Until autumn 2007, Salinen Austria AG was producing around 800,000 tonnes of vacuum salt per year at its Ebensee location. After an investment of approximately 100 million euros, the company has now boosted its production capacity (construction of a fourth evaporator, a third storeroom, a warehouse for finished goods and numerous auxiliary aggregates), giving it an annual output of 1.1 m tonnes and a storage volume of 300,000 tonnes since November 2007.

At the end of June, Salinen Austria AG held an Open Day, inviting the public to view the Steinkogelstraße facilities. The Saline was open from 9 .a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday 27 June, and guided tours of the new plant were offered. About 300 visitors took up the invitation, enjoyed the extensive tours and the informal get-together afterwards.
